Detroit plans to privatize school bus operations

Change will save $50 million over five years, district says

From The Detroit News: Detroit Public Schools' Emergency Financial Manager Robert Bobb plans to privatize the district's student busing system. Bobb says the change will save about $50.5 million over five years. The two companies that will receive the contracts, which were put up for bids, are ABC Student Transportation of Detroit and the First Student Transportation Co. of Cincinnati.
