Florida school can open despite traffic concerns

Road leading to school lacks left turn lane for buses; police will direct traffic.

The Osceola County (Fla.) Commission has cleared Neptune Elementary School to open Monday, even though Neptune Road lacks turn lanes for buses that will pull into the new school's driveway. The commissioners voted 3-2 to allow the school district to proceed on the conditions that it pays for a law-enforcement officer to direct traffic in the morning and afternoon and posts signs limiting speeds during those times to 25 mph, down from 50 mph.
