Sale of naming rights helps project move forward

From wickedlocal.com: Culminating nearly two decades of effort, officials in Gloucester, Mass., have broken ground on a new high school stadium. The $3.5 million Newell Stadium at Gloucester High School is expected to be completed by June 2013. Funding has come from various public and private sources, including a $500,000 payment from New Balance, an athletic wear company for naming rights to the stadium's track and field. The new stadium will feature 2,200 seats, and a synthetic turf field with improved drainage capacity. The existing field lies below sea level, which has led to flooding in the past. Supporters of the new stadium say they have been trying to get a new facility for 18 years.
