New high school in Riverside, Calif., will sit empty

Alvord Unified District can't afford to open Hillcrest High School
June 2, 2011

From The Los Angeles Times: When it's completed later this year, Hillcrest High School in Riverside, Calif., will be a high-tech academic hub with wireless Internet, a robotics lab, digital smart boards in every classroom and a first-rate performance hall. But it won't have any students. Sapped by state budget cuts, the Alvord Unified School District doesn't have the money to hire staff for or operate the $105-million campus.
