New York panel recommends more resources for state universities

Commissions calls for more funding, additional faculty

A report from the New York State Commission on Higher Education recommends sweeping changes in how the State University of New York and the City University of New York are governed. It calls for increasing tuition revenues and significantly higher state financial support. The report also urges hiring 2,000 additional full-time faculty members and creating a $3 billion innovation fund for research grants in fields that can fuel economic development.
