From The Indianapolis Star: The Commission for Higher Education in Indianahas approved a pair of campus building projects worth nearly $110 million. In West Lafayette, the $98 million student fitness center at Purdue University is slated to open in 2013 and will replace the 52-year-old Recreational Sport Center. In addition to renovating 200,000 square feet and adding about 125,000 square feet, the new facility will offer better ventilation, increased cardiovascular fitness areas, free weights, indoor jogging and walking space, and group exercise spaces offered to students. At Ivy Tech Community College in Indianapolis, an $11.4 million parking facility will add 466 parking spaces to a campus where students struggle to find a place to park at peak class times. It also will include first-level space for a campus library, computer lab and a student-assessment center.
