District stops restaurant deliveries to Tampa elementary school

PTA had arranged for some students to have more healthful lunches delivered to school

From The St. Petersburg Times: Parents at a Tampa, Fla., elementary school have been told they no longer can have restaurant meals for students delivered to the school. The PTA at MacFarlane Park Elementary had arranged deliveries of more healthful meals two days a week. Parents would order online, and volunteers would receive the meals at the school and distribute them to some 40 children. But the Hillsborough County district administration said the arrangement had to end: Sole-source provider agreements for cafeteria food do not allow competition from other vendors. And the district would have no way of monitoring nutritional content or sanitary conditions.
