Plymouth-Canton district may lose as many as 1,200 students to the new campuses

ThePlymouth-Canton (Mich.) Community school district could lose as many as 1,200 students to new charter schools as early as next September. Universal Academy, a crowded Detroit charter school, plans to build a new 78,000-square-foot facility on 25 acres in Canton Township. Meanwhile, the 692-student Canton Charter Academy hopes to build an additional school for an equal number of students. They have 1,250 students on a waiting list this year.
