Plans for private student housing irk Northeastern University officials

Boston university already is coping with opposition to its own housing plans.

A private development team has proposed building a high-rise for student housing on the edge of the Northeastern University campus in Boston. The proposal has angered the university, already under fire itself for its housing plans that would push student residences farther into the urban neighborhoods that surround them. The proposal opens a new front in the town vs. gown battles already raging over expansion plans at Harvard University and Boston College.
