Sustainably designed school opens in Greater Sudbury, Ontario

Walden Public School boasts numerous green features

News release: The Rainbow District School Board in Greater Sudbury, Ontario, has opened Walden Public School, which will be featured later this year at a sustainable buildings conference in Helsinki, Finland, as one of Canada's most environmentally friendly buildings. Sustainable features at the school, which serves students from junior kindergarten through sixth grade, include geothermal heating and cooling systems, radiant floor heating, displacement ventilation, energy efficient fixtures, occupancy sensors, waterless urinals, a wind turbine and photovoltaic panels.
