Ruling says Douglas County initiative violates the state constitution

From The Denver Post: A judge in Colorado has ruled that the Douglas County School District's voucher program violates the state constitution. The decision leaves hundreds of students who had enrolled in private schools scrambling for alternatives as the new school year is about to begin. Judge Michael A. Martinez issued a permanent injunction to stop the Douglas County district from carrying out its pilot Choice Scholarship Program. The American Civil Liberties Union, Americans United for the Separation of Church and State, and other Douglas County challenged the voucher program because taxpayer money was going to private and religious schools.
