School district begins $350 million effort to collect solar energy at its facilities
TheLos Angeles Unified School District has launched a $350 million solar energy program. The nation's second-largest district wants to put enough solar panels on schools and other district buildings by 2012 to generate 50 megawatts of electricity—enough energy to power as many as 50,000 homes.
