University of Missouri wants to help develop research park

The University of Missouri wants to establish laboratories and expand ties with bioscience and alternative energy companies at a new 500-acre research park proposed in Blue Springs., about 20 miles east of Kansas City. Local officials developed the concept, which is being called the Missouri Innovation Park at Blue Springs, and then reached out to university and area civic leaders to generate support. University leaders agreed to establish the Mizzou Innovation Center for research, continuing education, student recruitment, alumni relations or other outreach programs.
