School facilities were heavily damaged in Chapman, Kan.

Officials in the Chapman (Kan.) school district, whose facilities were severely damaged by tornadoes, vow that they will have school facilities ready for students by Aug. 18. The district has hired an architect to help with recovery plans. The school system is looking at acquiring modular classrooms and using temporary space at a Catholic parish hall and at rural schools outside Chapman to accommodate students. A tornado on June 11 did major damage to the high school, middle school and grade school in Chapman, along with other district buildings. The architect is Bowman Bowman Novick.
