2 Detroit teachers ordered reinstated

Teachers had been put on leave after taking part in protest over school closings

Two math teachers in Detroit must be reinstated and receive back pay after a judge ruled that the Detroit district retaliated against them after they took part in a raucous protest last year against school closings. Doyle O'Connor, administrative law judge of the Michigan Employment Relations Commission, blasted the school district's actions and ordered the district to cease interfering with employees' rights to pursue grievances, hold union office or participate in lawful public protests.
