Glassmaking center opens at Ball State University

Officials hope facility becomes tourist attraction

From The Indianapois Star: Ball State University in Muncie, Ind., is hoping a new glassmaking center will become a tourist attraction for the campus. The Marilyn K. Glick Center for Glass features an exhibition space and lobby with windows that will let guests watch glass artists at work. In addition, the 10,000-square-foot building's two furnaces, which reach 2,000 degrees, will be accessible to community members. In addition to providing studio and office space for visiting scholars, the university intends to host a biennial competition in glass art featuring some of the leading artists from around the country.
