University of Massachusetts to offer online classes in China

Agreement enables school to become first foreign university to offer classes in the country

The University of Massachusetts has struck an agreement with China to become the first foreign university to offer government-sanctioned online classes in the country. UMass has an exclusive window to offer classes for the next five years in the nation of 1.3 billion. The new program eventually could serve about 5,000 students a year and generate up to $5 million a year for the university.
