District has to close $30.6 million deficit for 2010-11
March 5, 2010
From The Sacramento Bee: The Sacramento City Unified School District board has approved drastic cuts to balance the district's budget. The spending plan calls for the district to raise class sizes in kindergarten through third-grade, and lay off about 340 teachers, 60 counselors, social workers and psychologists, about 38 school administrators and five school clerical workers. Superintendent Jonathan Raymond says the urban district must close a $30.6 million deficit in the 2010-11 budget.
