University of Michigan is giving up ownership of Henry Ford estate

FromThe Detroit News: After more than 50 years, ownership of Henry Ford's estate on the grounds of the University of Michigan-Dearborn campus is being turned over to the board that runs the Edsel and Eleanor Ford House. University of Michigan officials have agreed to transfer the facility, listed as a National Historic Landmark, by July 2011. The facility will remain open until Dec. 31, when a review of renovation needs will be undertaken. Plans are to reopen it in phases beginning in 2013.
