Florida Atlantic University has broken ground on its Boca Raton campus for a new recreation and fitness center that is set to open in January 2009. The $11 million facility will include a 6,600-square-foot fitness center with more than 40 pieces of cardio equipment, and two fitness performance rooms designed for yoga, pilates, aerobics and spinning. It also will have a multipurpose gymnasium for basketball, volleyball, badminton and special events, as well as men’s and women’s health-club-style locker rooms. The architect is Borelli + Partners.
