School system takes aim at campuses labeled chronic failures

From The Chicago Sun-Times: Chicago School Board members have voted to close or phase out seven flagging schools and to turn around a record 10 others. The 17 schools affected have been labeled chronic failures. Hundreds of protesters, including the Rev. Jesse Jackson, packed two rooms at board headquarters to oppose the changes. Jackson argued that the closings disproportionately affected African-American communities and teachers.
