Oakland (Calif.) district police chief abruptly retires

Peter Sarna had allegedly uttered racial slurs

From The Bay Citizen: Peter Sarna II, police chief for the Oakland (Calif.) school district, has retired following news reports that he allegedly made a series of racial slurs against fellow officers. After Sarna's resignation, the district suspended an investigation involving his alleged misconduct. Joe O'Sullivan, a lawyer for an officer who filed the complaint, said his client was driving home last month when Sarna began his alleged rant.
