Washburne Culinary Institute is celebrating its 70th anniversary with a new state-of-the art teaching facility on the new campus of Kennedy-King College in Chicago. The kitchen-classrooms boast top-of-the-line equipment and amenities such as teaching islands with giant overhead TVs, and pulpers that turn garbage into composting material. A pastry shop and restaurant will open to the public later this year and give students a chance to hone their skills.
