Wiscasset wants to renovate 2 schools

Selectmen inWiscasset, Maine, have placed a $14 million referendum on the Nov. 4 ballot. The proposal calls for closing the middle school and distributing grades 5 and 6 to the primary school and grades 7 and 8 to the high school. The money would be used to renovate the primary and high schools to accommodate the additional students. The changes are needed because of declining enrollment and increased maintenance costs.
