Trustees approve move of Oklahoma City University law school

From The Daily Oklahoman: The Oklahoma City University Board of Trustees has approved a proposal to move its law school into the former Central High School building. The building now houses offices for American Farmers and Ranchers Mutual Insurance Co. University Trustee Chairman Ron Norick estimates that with renovations set to cost about $8 million, and with the acquisition cost and furnishings, the total project cost will range between $20 million and $22 million. Officials hope to open the downtown location by fall 2014.

JULY 2012....from The Daily Oklahoman: The Oklahoma City school district and the Oklahoma City University Law School are rivals in an effort to buy the former Central High School. The district wants the building to be its new administration building. The law school argues it is a better fit and will do more to promote the development of downtown. The 102-year-old building, designed by architect Andrew Solomon Layton, was given up by the school system 30 years ago when it was sold to Southwestern Bell Telephone. The company converted the facility into office space.
