Former chief financial officer says district dismissed her arbitrarily

The former chief financial officer for Detroit Public Schools is suing the district for wrongful termination. Dori Freelain says she wants her job back and more than $25,000 in damages. She asserts that the district arbitrarily dismissed her and changed its story several times as to why. Former Superintendent William F. Coleman III placed Freelain on paid administrative leave in March while officials investigated questionable wire transfers to insurance contractors and allegations of kickbacks. District officials later said Freelain's contract was not renewed because of job performance.
