Woodward Academy president Hank Payne left a suicide note

The president of Woodward Academy in College Park, Ga., wrote a suicide note before taking his life earlier this week, authorities say. The note was left in Hank Payne's eighth-floor hotel room before he plummeted to his death. His death came only hours after he gave a rousing speech at a faculty and staff luncheon to kick off 2008 at the school, a private K-12 facility. Payne had been at Woodward since July 2000. He also had served as president of Williams College in Massachusetts and Hamilton College in New York.
