Judge approves desegregation plan in Tangipahoa Parish, La.

Four elementary schools are to be built
FromThe Baton Rouge Advocate: A federal court judge has approved the Tangipahoa Parish (La.) School District's desegregation plan calling for construction of new schools, creation of magnet programs and nearly $200 million in new taxes. Work on building a new O.W. Dillon Elementary School in Kentwood shall begin in 45 days. Three other elementary schools will be built upon passage of a new tax, and themed magnet programs will be developed at several schools in the parish.
