School board rejects lawsuit settlement with its own board member

From The San Antonio Express-News: The Southside (Texas) Independent School Board has rejected a settlement offer from a board member who is suing the district she now helps guide. Alma Rosa Guzman's offer to settle her federal discrimination lawsuit against the San Antonio-based school district for $600,000. She is a former district employee who won a seat on the board last May. Lawyers for the district and Guzman say they have been directed by a federal judge to try to resolve the case. After three decades of working for the district, Guzman was fired from her job as maintenance manager in November 2010.
