Kindergarten class size will grow in San Francisco

22 in a class instead of 20 will save nearly $1 million

A boost in enrollment and a budget crisis will mean larger kindergarten classes at San Francisco schools this fall - 22 students instead of 20, district officials say. Adding two children to each kindergarten classroom will save the district close to $1 million -- money needed to help close a $29 million shortfall in the next school year.
