University of Pennsylvania to build behavioral sciences facility

University will seek gold LEED certification for the building's design.

The University of Pennsylvania is planning to build a neural and behavioral sciences facility on its Philadelphia campus. The building will be designed to achieve a gold LEED rating for environmentally friendly design from the U.S. Green Building Council. University officials want the facility to optimize natural lighting and ventilation, while providing indoor air using natural, non-toxic and renewable materials. The architect is SmithGroup.
