35 struggling Mississippi schools are eligible to become charters

Law says a petition from a majority of parents at a school could force a conversion

From The Biloxi Sun-Herald: The Mississippi Department of Education says 35 struggling schools are eligible for the first time to be converted to charter schools. A 2010 law gives parents the power to force the conversion of schools that for three straight years have scored an F on a school rating scale.
