Teachers in Michigan district say retroactive pay cut is illegal

Madison school board has imposed a 10 percent cut retroactive to the beginning of school year
April 23, 2012

From The Detroit Free Press: Teachers in the Madison (Mich.) School District say the school board has violated the law by imposing a 10 percent pay cut that is retroactive to the beginning of the school year. Paychecks that teachers received last week reflected the deduction. In objecting to the action, the union representing the teachers cite a May ruling in a case that said employers can't apply a pay cut retroactively.
