Former St. Louis superintendent to lead district in Chicago's south suburbs

The former superintendent of the beleaguered St. Louis public schools will return to his native Chicago area to head up Thornton Fractional High School District 215 beginning this summer. Creg Williams said his goals at the Calumet City-based district are to improve test scores; reduce the achievement gap among black, Hispanic and white students; and make sure more Thornton graduates are ready for college.
