Portland community college system seeks $374 million

Request is Oregon's largest-ever education bond request

The Portland (Ore.) Community College Board of Education has voted to put the biggest education property tax request in state history on the November ballot. The 86,000-student college will ask voters in the five counties it serves to approve a $374 million bond proposal. The money will pay to build and renovate facilities on four campuses to make room for 24,000 more students by 2012.
