Officials at Adrian College concede problems in its overhaul of athletic program

Adrian College in Adrian, Mich., may have violated a federal law that bans gender discrimination in school sports when it doubled its coaching staff and putting nearly $15 million into building upgrades and new sports facilities. Investigators from the U.S. Department of Education's Office of Civil Rights conducted a three-day inspection of the Adrian campus to see whether the sports program complies with Title IX. Among the issues raised in a complaint are different treatment of men's and women's coaches, different facilities for men's and women's teams and more attention to male athletes.
