From The Fairmont Sentinel: The Truman (Minn.) school district has agreed to pay $80,000 to settle a lawsuit brought by a former employee who alleged she was fired for being a whistle blower. Val Wilcox-Pesta, a former paraprofessional with the district, was dismissed in July 2009. The year before, she had reported to the principal of the district's K-12 school that the principal's son had sold marijuana to her son. After publicly disapproving with how the school system was handling the drug incident, Wilcox-Pesta was reassigned and eventually dismissed.
