School gets OK to spend $27 million on facilities

The University of Southern Mississippi is moving ahead with plans for rebuilding its Gulf Coast campuses devastated three years ago by Hurricane Katrina. The state has given Southern Miss the OK to spend about $27.5 million, using funds from insurance proceeds and FEMA reimbursement. All the plans would coordinate with the overall master plan for the Coast campuses.
