Judge tells Louisiana district to end bible giveaways
A federal judge has ordered a public school system in Louisiana to stop allowing in-school Bible giveaways, saying the practice violates the First Amendment. In a case brought by the American Civil Liberties Union of Louisiana against the Tangipahoa Parish School Board, the judge found that distributing bibles was a religious activity without a secular purpose and amounted to school board promotion of Christianity.
