Private school in Nantucket, Mass., gets new building

Two-story building houses classes for ages 3 to 11.
Sept. 11, 2007

The Nantucket (Mass.) Lighthouse School has opened a new 6,800-square-foot, two-story building. The L-shaped building has a metal frame and cedar-shingled walls topped with a cupola. Classes will be on the ground floor in classrooms, each painted a different color, with cork flooring and large windows. The second floor will be left unfinished until the school either finds groups who want to lease it, or the school needs to expand. The architect is Chip Webster & Associates.
