Detroit district will re-open children's museum

Jan. 30, 2012
Museum, which closed at the end of 2011, will be available for school field trips

From The Detroit News: The Detroit school district says it will reopen the cash-strapped Detroit Children's Museum, but only for district students. The facility has been closed since the end of December. The school system, which owns the 96-year-old institution, has severed its 10-year service agreement with the Detroit Science Center, which had administered and staffed the museum since 2010. The limited reopening will enable the district to follow through with field trips and other museum programs that had been scheduled before the facility shut down.
