School System May Refund Millions to Taxpayers

Tax collection mistakes from 2002-04 may cost Detroit Public Schools, which already is in financial trouble.

Erroneous tax collection in 2002, 2003 and 2004 may result in Detroit Public Schools paying out millions of dollars in tax refunds. A large deficit and financial troubles already has prompted the state of Michigan to say it would take over the district's finances.
