Woman was fired after she told students about a fundraiser for Florida slaying victim

From The Detroit News: A petition with 200,000 signatures calling for the reinstatement of a teacher at a Pontiac (Mich.) charter school has been delivered to the school's board. The teacher, Brooke Harris, was fired last month from the Pontiac Academy for Excellence after advising students about a fundraiser planned for the family of slain Florida teen Trayvon Martin. The petition was started on Charge.org by Teaching Tolerance, a project of the Southern Poverty Law Center, a nonprofit civil rights organization.
