Hurricane damage at Louisiana schools estimated at $150 million

State was hit by both Gustav and Ike

Public schools in Louisiana suffered up to $150 million in damage during hurricanes Gustav and Ike, state Superintendent of Education Paul Pastorek says. Schools in six Louisiana districts are closed because of Ike. All of those in hard-hit Cameron Parish, in southwest Louisiana, remain closed.
