From The Miami Herald: The Florida Education Association and two other unions have sued Gov. Rick Scott and other trustees of the state retirement plan. The unions contend that the state violated its contractual obligation to state workers when it cut 3 percent of their salaries and shifted the money into the Florida Retirement System. They argue that under state law, employees do not have to contribute part of their salaries to the state retirement system unless they agree to the change in their negotiated contracts. The other unions to join the lawsuit are the Police Benevolent Association and the SEIU Florida Public Service Union.
