Philadelphia charter gets permanent home

Independence Charter School buys space for $6 million.

Independence Charter School in Philadelphia finally will get a permanent home. After two years of negotiating with the Philadelphia School District and vying with a developer, Independence has bought the former Durham School for $6 million. The school has 695 students in grades K-8, and has been operating from an increasingly crowded, leased space for seven years.
