Fire destroys Alaska high school

Blaze at Susitna Valley High School displaces 200 students for the fall.

Fire has destroyed the Susitna Valley High School in Talkeetna, Alaska. The blaze puts an abrupt end to a $5.5 million renovation and leaves about 200 students who are on summer vacation unsure of where they'll go to school next year. Authorities said the overall value of the 34-year-old school at $13.23 million with $691,000 worth of contents. The building was a total loss.
