Cypress-Fairbanks tops 100,000

Third-largest district in Texas has doubled its enrollment since 1995

The Cypress-Fairbanks (Texas) district in suburban Houston has surpassed the 100,000-student mark this week, reporting an enrollment of 100,141 children. It is the state's third-largest school district, behind Houston and Dallas. Reaching the milestone didn't surprise school administrators, who have watched enrollment double since 1995. They've hired hordes of new teachers and built more than two dozen new schools, including four this year, to keep pace with the growth.
