East Baton Rouge Parish (La.) district scales back elementary school renovation

Addition will be a freestanding structure so that it will not disrupt classes
July 2, 2010

From The Baton Rouge Advocate: The East Baton Rouge Parish (La.) School Board will rebid a renovation and expansion of LaSalle Elementary, downscaling the project after the first bids came in higher than expected. LaSalle Elementary is due for a big makeover, but the initial bids came in high because contractors were worried that much of the work would have disrupted school. The revised project calls for a six-classroom addition rather than the original eight-classroom addition. And now the addition will be a freestanding building fenced off from the school as opposed to the original plan to build out from the existing school, which would have disrupted classes.
