Two schools under construction in Central (La.) district

Enrollment has doubled since district split from East Baton Rouge Parish system 4 years ago

From The Baton Rouge Advocate: The Central (La.) school district, entering into its fourth year since it began operating independently from the East Baton Rouge Parish School system, is beginning construction of two new schools. A 100,000-square-foot intermediate school will house grades three through five, and a 135,000-square-foot middle school will house grades six through eight. Central’s student population has climbed from 2,500 in 2007 to some 3,900 students who are expected to enroll this fall.
